Super Bowl Shuffle Video

During the 1985 regular season of the professional American football, the Chicago Bears recorded a song which was also made into a Super Bowl Shuffle video. It was categorized under the rap genre but was not a hit because of the admirable musical features. A lot said that the track landed in the Billboard charts because of the artists who were athletes themselves. In the SuperBowl Shuffle video, Walter Payton, William Perry and Otis Wilson appeared. Several supporters of the team were entertained as the players’ personalities were discovered while not playing on field.

According to Gary Fencik who also appeared in the Super Bowl Shuffle video, he and the rest of the Chicago Bears was not “pre- packaged.” He added that at his time there were not a lot of sports magazines on television which helps in promoting the National Football League (NFL). However, the song that his team collaborated on was instrumental in increasing the popularity of the organization. Not only that, other franchises who have never qualified for the championship tournament were provided the opportunities to be known. This athlete also noted that the track did not only benefit the Bears but the whole image of the federation.

It was mentioned earlier that the song landed in the Billboard charts which alone was already a success considering that the Chicago Bears is not a music artist. With the Super Bowl Shuffle video continually playing on television, the song was noticed by the Grammy. The track was then nominated for the Best Rhythm and Blues Performance by a Dou or Group. However, the award was given to a tie between Revolution and Prince. It may have been a sad moment for the team but still, it has all the reason to rejoice because the Super Bowl Shuffle music video earned how many million dollars.

With the citations and successes, the Chicago Bears still received a lot of criticisms. Yes, the Super Bowl Shuffle video was entertaining to several of the team’s supporters but the lyrics were said to be “boastful.” According to Walter Payton, the song was not created for the franchise to earn huge bucks. Come to think of it, the salary of a single athlete is already big so there is not much point in wanting to hoard more. Well, unless if the player is in a greedy mode. Going back to Payton, he explained that the money the Bears profited from the track went to a local charity, If you happen to hear the collaboration, it was made mentioned.

The Chicago Bears should not only be credited for the Supper Bowl Shuffle because there were also other individuals behind the scenes. Willie Gault was the brainchild of the song which was produced by Richard Meyer who already passed away. The two have previously worked together for Linda Clifford’s “Heat In Me.” Since he happened to be both in music and sports, he recruited his team for a recording deal. When all heads nodded in affirmation, Mike Singletary, Walter Payton, Otis Wilson and Steve Fuller took on the lead roles. However, in the video, all the athletes of the franchise appeared so the shoot was definitely fun.

The video for the Super Bowl Shuffle was shoot in Park West. All in all, fourteen athletes of the Chicago Bears agreed to appear such as Leslie Frazier, Calvin Thomas, Jim Morrissey, Stefan Humphries, Ken Taylor, Mike Tomczak, Maury Buford, Dain Rains, Mitch Krenk, Thomas Sanders, Tyrone Keys, Shaun Gayle and Reggie Phillips. Those players who did not have vocal parts in the song were not paid. In other words, the attendance of other players in the team were voluntary. At this juncture, the track is the first in the history of sporting industry where an entire franchise collaborated.
