In every Super Bowl, there is what they call as a Super Bowl halftime. What is a Super Bowl halftime?

A Super Bowl halftime is basically a halftime show of the super bowl that is given on the both the first and the second halves of this sporting event. Performances from the Super Bowl Halftime are mostly done by popular musicians and singers. Below are some of the most famous superbowl half time shows from very popular artists of all times.

Michael Jackson- The king of pop himself, Michael Jackson, performed in the 1993 Super Bowl halftime show. This particular show was the first time where only a single artist performed on the halftime. The show was held at Rose Bowl. The show opened with different doubles of Michael Jackson entering from different corners of the Rose Bowl stadium. The grand finale of this particular Super Bowl Half time featured a card stunt from the audience, plus a choir from more than three thousand area children of Los Angeles, joining Michael Jackson in singing one of his most popular songs, Heal the World. Aside from this song, he also performed Jam as his introductory music, Billie Jean, and Black or White. The selection of Michael Jackson to perform for the Super Bowl halftime was in great response to the sagging interests of recent performances. A year before Michael Jackson’s performance, Fox channel broadcasted another alternate program during the Super Bowl’s halftime show. This particular move apparently attracted millions of viewers and fans away from the Super Bowl broadcast. That is the reason why the National Football League decided that it is important to sign the best acts for super bowl halftimes.

Phil Collins- The 2000 Super Bowl Halftime show that was produced by Walt Disney featured world-renowned Phil Collins. It also featured a ten-minute show of a hundred and twenty-five percussionists and drummers, full symphony orchestra, aerial dancers, puppets that are larger than life, multi-generational choir, and some advanced pyrotechnics. Aside from Phil Collins, other stars that performed during that event include Toni Braxton, Toni Braxton, and Enrique Iglesias.

Aerosmith and N’Sync- In the 2001 Super Bowl halftime, aside from MTV artists like N’Sync and Aerosmith, some performers also include Ben Stiller, Chris Rock, and Adam Sandler. N’ Sync sang Bye, bye, bye and It’s Gonna be Me, Aerosmith rendered I Don’t Wanna Miss a Thing and Jaded, and the final performance were from Aerosmith, N’Sync, Mary J. Blige, Nelly, and Britney Spears, all singing Walk this Way.

U2- In the 2002 Super Bowl Halftime, the show was more of a tribute of the September 11 World Trade Center bombing, and the show featured famous band U2. The stage was heart-shaped and featured a banner that scrolled the more than 3,000 people that died from that tragic bombing. U2 sang Beautiful Day, MLK, and Where the Streets Have No Name.

Shania Twain, No Doubt, Sting- The 2003 Super Bowl halftime featured Shania Twain performing first, singing Up and Man! I Feel Like a Woman, then followed by No Doubt’s Just a Girl, and then finally Message in a Bottle by Sting.

Paul McCartney- It was in 2005 that famous Beatle member Paul McCartney performed in the Super Bowl halftime and accordingly, his touring band receive a fee of more than three million dollars. During the halftime, he sang Drive My Car, Get Back, Live and Let Die, and Hey Jude as the finale.

Aside from the above-mentioned artists that performed during different Super Bowl halftimes, there are still other popular and equally talented performers that entertained millions of football fans and spectators.
