A lot of football fans are watching a super bowl event not only because of football, but also because of the performers that are expected to perform on the Super Bowl Halftime. Big celebrities, as well as popular performing artists are normally expected to be present in any Super Bowl event. Of the many personalities who have graced on the said event, one of the most well-applauded in the Prince Super bowl performance. The Prince Super Bowl halftime presentation is the latest of the Super Bowl, being showcased only just this year, 2007. The Prince super bowl lasted for twelve minutes as a medley of different songs that were generally interspaced with guitar solos from Eddie Van Halen and Jimi Hendrix.

So who is really prince? And why was the Prince super bowl considered as one of the most notable super bowl halftime performance? Prince is born Prince Rogers Nelson in Minneapolis, Minnesota on June 7, 1958. He is a famous American musician, and uses the name Prince as his stage name; although he is also know as The Artist Formerly Know as Prince. The music of Prince has greatly spanned in a variety of styles. He started from funk, R&B, and soul, before finally expanding his music palette all throughout his career in the music industry, absorbing other musical genres like pop, New Wave, hip-hop, jazz, and blues. His distinctive characteristics that made him a star became popularly known as a “Minneapolis Sound”. This sound included the sparse and the industrial-sounding arrangements of drum machines, plus synthesizer riffs, that later proved to be very influential.

As years have passed, Prince has managed to make a name of his own because of his distinctive touch of his music. Aside from being a singer, Prince is also a songwriter, a musician, a record producer, and an actor. He can also play different musical instruments like the guitars, the bass guitar, the piano, the keyboards, the drums, and the percussion. From 1978 until the present, he has been in the music industry, working for different music labels. These labels include Arista, Paisley Park, Universal, Warner Brothers, NPG, and Columbia. He is also associated with acts to the Revolution, The Time, The New Power Generation, Vanity 6, Sheila E, Mazarati, Apollonia 6, The Family, 94 East, Wendy and Lisa, Morris Day, Madhouse, and Tamar.

Aside from being a prolific musical legend, Prince is also linked to a lot of celebrities like Madonna, Carmen Electra, Whitney Houston, Kirstey Alley, Kim Basinger, Troy Beyer, Sheena Easton, and Susanna Hoffs to name a few, but ended up marrying his back up dancer and singer Mayte Garcia on February 14, 1996. The couple had a son named Gregory but died after birth, after suffering from Pfeiffer Syndrome. They later divorced in 2000, and shortly thereafter, he married Manuela Testolini in 2001, but also divorced middle of 2006.

Prince has been well-loved in the public because of his many achievements in the music industry. The Prince super bowl halftime show has greatly made him very popular all the more. People from all walks of life greatly appreciated Prince at the super bowl halftime because the performer has truly entertained the spectators well.

During the 2007 Prince Super Bowl Performance, the halftime was very much applauded because Prince did not mind at all performing under heavy rain. During that show, other performances also include the Queen, singing We Will Rock You, All Along the Watchtower by Bob Dylan, and The Best of You by the Foo Fighters. Prince sang some of his timeless songs like Let’s Go Crazy, Baby I’m a Star, Proud Mary alongside Shelby Johnson, and Purple Rain.

Prince’s presence during the 2007 Super Bowl has greatly earned him more respect. Not only did Prince entertained the spectators, but also he was able to reach out to them with his timeless songs that are truly worth remembering.
