New York Giants
From the metropolitan area of the famous New York hails the NFL eastern division member, the New York Giants. This New York Football Giants, as they are also known, is among the twenty-six American football teams.
All throughout since the team’s foundation in 1925, the New York Giants have been playing, training and headquartering at the suburbs of New Jersey, particularly in Giants Stadium. This East Rutherford home game stadium is located at the Meadowlands Sports Complex. As an eastern division member of the National Football League, the Big Blue as what they are also called were among the five football teams, which competed for NFL in the year 1925 and emerged as the only football team admitted and is still existing.

The Jints, the team’s another nickname is guided by their present head coach Tom Coughlin. The nickname The New York Football Giants was made to distinguish the team from a professional baseball league, of the similar name. The team also gained few nicknames that include the G-men, Big Blue, the Jints, the Jersey Giants and the Big Blue Wrecking Crew.
Historically, the Giants had their first football competition on the 4th of October 1925 against All New Britain. They were able to beat the rival in a 26-0 score, after a lively 10, 000 crowd. The first season of the team turned successful. In their third season, they aimed their best record and got the NFL title award. Yet the fourth season was disappointing for the Jints and after this period, the team partly owner John Mara purchased the whole Detroit Wolverines squad, mainly to obtain Benny Friedman, the star quarterback, and joined the two football teams under one name, which is the Giants.
The year 1964 to 1978 was called wilderness years for the Giants. The team was just able to register two winning periods or seasons and they were not able to proceed for the playoffs. However, the periods 1979 to 1993 was hailed the resurgence era of the team. They were able to return to the peak in the year 1979. There were a series of quarterback drafting and major awards achievements.
The modern era for the New York Giants is a bittersweet period. They have struggled, missed the 1994 playoff, received player heavy criticism, and poor performance of some players yet, they grabbed the first playoff competition title against the Philadelphia Eagles. They also conquered the Minnesota Vikings during the NFC championship tournament.
