The first trace of the Super Bowl started around 4 decades ago. It all started with a bouncy rubber ball as well as the merging of the two top rivals, the American Football League (AFL) and the National Football League (NFL). The NFL was established in year 1920, while the AFL subsequently followed in the year 1960. From then on, these two Football giant leagues have been the greatest competitors – both their players and their fans. It came to a certain point that the competition became intense where they were forced make a serious merger talks for the fans. They have talked about it and came up with their decision, following an announcement of a successful merger on June 8, 1966.
Since 1966, the list of Super Bowl winners has been pretty long. In fact, we are already at the 42nd season just on NFL Super Bowl alone, and another 4 seasons have already been played on the NFL-AFL World Championships (prior to naming it the Super Bowl). After the merger between the AFL and the NFL, the first team to have successfully earned their way to be placed on the list of all Super Bowl winners is the Green Bay Packers. In fact, they have won the first two seasons of the Super bowl consecutively. They were a member of the NFL, which forced people to think if the members of AFL could even compete with the strong force of the NFL. However, in the subsequent year, the people’s doubt was changed because on the third season New York Jets (a member of the AFL), won the tourney and have earned AFL’s first place in the Super Bowl winners list. The very next years, on their fourth season, Kansas City Chiefs (another AFL member) have victoriously earned a spot in the list of Super Bowl winners, evening the score to 2-2.
Until today, the winners of the national titles have been alternating between the AFL and the NFL. Nobody can tell which one’s better because the results vary from each year. All we know for a fact is that winning the football nationals is one of the biggest reasons to celebrate. However, if you think that winning and having your team’s name placed in the list of Super Bowl winners is just another easy thing to do, think again.
