In addition to the pre-NFL games, they won 4 national championship titles in the NFL.

1946 – 1949: The Browns’ Foundation

The Cleveland Browns were established in 1945 as a member of the AAFC, under the ownership pf Arthur McBride. Shortly after acquiring the franchise, McBride named Paul Brown (then Ohio State Buckeyes Coach) as the Vice President, head coach, and the general manager of the newly formed team.

They conducted a fan contests to determine what name they will be giving the team. The most potential choice was the Cleveland Panthers. However, after knowing that the name was used in a semipro team (one that was known because of its chronic losing record) Brown rejected the name. This forced them to open up a second fan contests to choose a well fitting name for a champion. In those times, the media had named the popular naming contest the Brown Bombers, which eventually shortened to just the Browns. However, until now, there are still rumors spreading that the Cleveland Browns was named after Paul Brown himself.

The Cleveland Browns effortlessly dominated the AAFC by winning all four national championship titles. On top of everything, they even knocked down the 1948 season where they were declared as the first-ever unbeaten and untied team in the Pro-football history (24 years after the same feat was ever perfected by the Miami Dolphins in 1972).
Browns’ undefeated winning streaks have reached to 29 games which includes an astonishing 18 consecutive wins. During the entire four-year run of the AAFC, the Cleveland Browns only lost 4 games total.

1950: The Time The Hit The NFL

After the fourth season in 1949, the AAFC dissolved, basically due to the Browns’ absolute domination. When NFL agreed to take three of the AAFC’s top teams for its 1950 season, it was sure that the Browns were top priority.

The Cleveland Browns’ first ever NFL game was against the Philadelphia Eagles, a two-time defending champion. There were a lot rumors saying that the Browns were just another dominating team in a minor league and that the Eagles would easily blow them off of the field. After all the negative talks about them, the Browns’ became more determined to win to prove to everyone once and for all that they belonged. They grated the Eagles’ forceful defense to a 35-10 blowout!

The Cleveland Browns Helmet And Uniform

Until now, the Cleveland Browns remained the only team not to have a logo on their helmet. Since their first debut in 1946, their uniform has generally remained just the same, only with a few little alterations. Originally, the team wore white helmets, but now they have orange helmets with a white center stripe.

The Cleveland Browns may have previously belonged in a minor league, but they sure proved to the world that they can compete in giant major leagues like the NFL, not only are they competing, they are even dominating.
