Chicago Bears
If you are into American football and have been watching the series of tournaments every season, the name Chicago Bears no longer sounds mystifying. While some mistakenly associate this to chocolate candies, the Chicago Bears is actually an American football team.
Also known as Da Bears, the Chicago Bears was founded in 1919 at Decatur, Illinois. The team belongs to the North Division of NFC or National Football Conference in the National Football League.
The Chicago Bears football, with a fight song entitled “Bear Down, Chicago Bear” is the 2006 NFC Champions. Aside from this award, they have bagged nine championships of the Professional American Football League, having eight during the NFL championships and one in Super Bowl XX. They have trailed the team Green Bay Packers with twelve awards. The Bears have also gotten the most enshrines in the Hall of Fame of the Pro Football, having 26 members.
The head coach of the league is Lovie Smith and their team colors is composed of orange and navy blue. The establishment of the club was in Illinois however in 1921, they have moved to Chicago. The squad played in some home games at the fields of Wrigley through the 1970 period. With the exemption of the season 2002, the team has played home games at the Chicago’s Soldier Field annually, ever since the year 1971. The popularity of the Chicago Bears goes beyond enlisting themselves in the famous Forbes magazine, as gaining an amount of $945 million from the different franchise. The club made is recognized as the 10th richest NFL franchise. The team is supported through sponsorship deals with big companies such as Chase, Coca-Cola, Motorola, Cadillac and Miller Brewing Company.
Also known as The Monsters of the Midway, the league was also known as the NFL member to get a presenting guarantor, with their 2004 season ad by BankOne, which is now the Chase.
All through the history, the Bears had several official team logos. The first logo established a football with a colored black bear on top. The team maintained this sign until 1962, where the team introduced the mark C-like symbol. This logo changed was mainly due to logo additions on their helmets. For more than 40 years, the C-like symbol has been kept.
The uniform of the Bears underwent some evolution. From blue and brown stripes in 1920, the orange color was introduced in 2005 to their alternate jerseys. The orange swaps the navy blue on alternative jerseys, as this color becomes the main shade whereas the navy sets off. The Bears also sport all-white tournament uniforms during the 2006 two road competitions. In a thanksgiving moment in 2004, the team also sported orange jerseys, being part of the tradition.
Additionally, the team has also a mascot, Stanley Da Bear, apart from the other unofficial ones named Bearman and Rocky. They carry megaphones and chants along with the thousands of fans in the court.
